Pricing Guide

At Exile Skimboards they pride themselves on manufacturing the highest quality skimboards on the planet.  All of their boards are made utilizing the same construction process regardless of what options are chosen. Their boards are priced based on the fabric used in the board.

Eglass: $364
Sglass: $394
Carbon: $447

Once a fabric is chosen there are still many other options available on the boards.  All options are included in the base price unless otherwise noted.

ROCKERS
HYBRID ROCKER
The standard rocker also happens to be the most versatile.  It excels in both heavy and light shorebreak.  Hybrid rockers feature very gradual nose rocker and are almost completely flat in the tail.  They are preferred by our team riders on both the east and west coast, and with good reason!

TRADITIONAL ROCKER
With nearly 3/4 of the board completely flat, this specialty rocker is built for speed.  These boards excel on flatter beaches with smaller waves.  For a given size, these boards will travel further than any other board on the market.  Beware however, the large flat spot that gives the boards their drive also makes them less forgiving.  Beginning, intermediate and unsure riders should consider the hybrid instead.

CONSTANT ROCKER
This specialty rocker is designed to handle the largest and most powerful shorebreak with ease.  The rocker on this board curves continuously from nose to tail resulting in a board that turns on a dime and sits comfortably in the pit of the sickest waves.  But purchase with caution, this specialty rocker requires at least shoulder high waves to really shine.

FIBER
E-GLASS is the most common fiber reinforcement used in the composites world.  It is popular because it offers very good performance for how much it costs.  It is not as strong or stiff as the higher priced Sglass and Carbon, but is still a high quality material.  Our Eglass boards are constructed exactly like the end Sglass and Carbon but with this more inexpensive material.  They are also glassed a little heavier to compensate for some of the loss of strength and stiffness.

S-GLASS stands for structural fiberglass.  It is 30% stronger than regular fiberglass and about 15% stiffer.  It also costs more than twice as much!  But when you are buying a high end product it is important to pay a little extra for the things that will make it last.  Our S-Glass skimboards have multiple layers of S-Glass on each side.  This makes the board a little stronger than an eglass board of the same weight and a little bit stiffer too.

CARBON FIBER is practically synonymous with top of the line in any industry.  This fabric is highly coveted in skimboards for its extreme strength and stiffness.  Carbon fiber fabrics are about twice as strong and stiff as E-Glass.  Boards made with this material come out a little stronger, a little lighter and a whole lot stiffer than S-Glass boards.

THICKNESS
By default our boards are made from 5/8" foam, with tapering in the nose and tail, resulting in a board with maximum manuverability and performance in good conditions. At no extra charge we can substitute 3/4" which provides additional float at the cost of maneuverability. This can be particularly useful in areas where the waves are often not very powerful.

FINISH
Our boards come standard with a glossy finish. At no extra charge we can make it a textured deck, adding strength and durability. This option is preferred by almost all of our team riders.

GLOSSY
Looks Nice
Traction Pads Stick Easily
Stickers stick easily
Heavier (by a couple of ounces)
Not as durable
Not Quite as strong

TEXTURED
Looks nice to some, but not shiny
A little stronger
More durable
Traction Pads and Stickers don't stick as well
You must sand the deck to get them to stick at all
ABOUT EXILE SKIMBOARDS
Exile Skimboards LLC was officially born in the Spring of 2002, but it was a long time in the making. Company founders Aaron Peluso and Andy Chiavetta had already spent years preparing for what they felt would be a ground shaking introduction to the skimboarding world.

Since the early 1990’s Andy Chiavetta had been building boards for close friends as well as a handful of customers. While these boards were never available to the general skim market, years of design and construction experimentation led to a very refined process.

Since 1994, Aaron Peluso has owned and operated SkimOnline.com, which has since become by far the most viewed skimboarding resource in the world. Working on the website for over a decade, he has had the privilege of watching the sport blossom first hand. His interaction with skimboarders all over the globe gave him not only good contacts, but also a unique insight into what riders look for in a skimboard.

With 30 years of combined experience riding their own boards (most of them professionally), the company founders collectively figured out what works through trial and error, from a rider’s perspective. With such a refined product, Andy began experiencing a lot of requests to make boards for people he had never met, because they believed they were the best out there.

In the late 90’s Andy and Aaron had a discussion about the sport, how things were done, and how they could be improved. They were both confident they had a clearly superior product which would be capable of capturing a significant portion of the board market. They were also excited about the possibility of using the company and it’s influence to initiate positive changes in the sport as a whole.

At this time, Aaron began the long process of taking the knowledge gained over the past decade and developing a product and company that could live up to the founder’s high expectations.

When the company was finally announced to the public in July of 2002, it hit the ground running and hasn’t looked back since. Just a couple of years later the company could confidently claim it was one of the largest high-end board manufacturers in the world. By October of 2004 the company outgrew its first factory and moved to a much larger space in San Clemente, CA. The popularity of the brand shows no signs of slowing down. Demand still far outpaces supply even though the company has constantly increased production since inception.

Aaron Peluso currently runs the day-to-day operations of the company while Andy Chiavetta maintains his role as technical adviser. Andy owns another company called “Aero Chia”, which builds customized composite race aircraft from the ground up. Aaron Peluso also works as a commercial real estate broker, as well as continuing to operate SkimOnline.com.
